Yes, more herons! From the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, as usual... Sorry for the heron spam, they're just so fun to sketch. Seriously, huge goofy-looking birds, look at 'em.
(Aaaand I think we should just accept that blog updates may be sporadic through the Fall season... Fall is always the most deadline-intensive time of year for me. I'll try to stay on schedule as much as I can, but I make no guarantees.)

Whatever Wednesday: Webcomic Site Banners
Very sneaky sneak preview of banner graphics for my upcoming webcomic... These go on various sections of the comic site. They ended up considerably smaller on the site, though, so I wanted to post them in glorious full size somewhere. The characters, of course, are all part of the vast, unmanageable cast that appears in the comic. We shall officially meet them soon. Soooooon!
Hoping to launch the notorious too-long-in-the-making webcomic in a week or so! Depending on client interruptions or lack thereof... Wheee, can't wait!

Sketchy Sunday: Cormorants
A cormorant, cruising around the pond at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, looking like a greaser the way cormorants always do...

Figure Friday: Wedge Shoes
Just a little something from the archives, Society of Illustrators again... Model with funky wedge shoes. (Shoes are fun to draw, I admit. If the model is wearing shoes, I'm likely to end up focusing more on the shoes than the model.)

Whatever Wednesday: Comic Roughs
Sneak peek at some pencils I'm doing for a small comic job... I probably can't really divulge the content since it's not my script, I'm just drawing the pretty pictures. But I rather like the way these pages were going, so I thought I'd show them off. Fight scenes YEAH! Life is good when people pay you to draw fight scenes, man...
(Okay, it's not really Wednesday and apparently I missed Sunday... Can you tell I'm in deadline-juggling mode? Yep. Chaos reigns. September is always like this.)

Figure Friday: Orange Nudes
Bright orange! This is Sprout, from the old Michael Alan Drawathons... Things tended to get a tad experimental in these sessions. (Did I miss Wednesday again? I did, didn't I. You know, I'm not even sure how that happened. Crazy week, yo.)

Sketchy Sunday: Lake Frogs
Frogs! In a lake! Sketched from a kayak...
(Sunday, Monday, whatever... It's Labor Day weekend, it doesn't matter.)

Figure Friday: Gravida
Okay, this is probably the only life drawing I have of a nude pregnant woman... This is not something you see often at life drawing sessions. (Nearly nude, anyway. This is CERTAINLY the only life drawing I've done of a nude pregnant woman in punky boots.) And now apparently I need to tackle the problem of how to get my old scanner to talk to Photoshop CS5.5 before I can scan anything else... argh!
(And yeah, Wednesday update kinda didn't happen. Migraine was happening instead. Sorry about that.)
