Spring is Sprung!

Spring is sprung with a vengeance! Sure, it started with a few sporadic daffodils and whatnot, no big deal, and then WHAM! all the magnolias and cherry blossoms at once in the past couple of weeks. This always happens. And I never get to sketch and photograph all the stuff I want to because it's gone before you can even blink. I've been catching some of it, though.

Whatever Wed-Thursday: Pink Roses

Did I forget Wednesday? I totally forgot Wednesday. So many other things going on yesterday, whoops. At least three different free outdoor concerts happening at once, including the New York Philharmonic, plus fireworks... Wheee! Summer! Anyway. How about more roses? Can't have too many roses (though they're mostly faded now, they don't like this crazy heat at all.) (Neither do I.) Pink roses this time, and a sketch of a red rose, all from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden as usual.

Sketchy Sunday: Shrimp Flower

A bit late, too hot to post again... But anyway, here's a sketch of a weird flower from the tropical greenhouse at the Botanic Garden. I think it was called a "Shrimp Flower". It did look a bit like a giant yellow shrimp, I guess.

Sketch of a violet done while waiting for somebody to vacate my favorite bench, and a lot of photos of various crabapples blooming like crazy, from sometime in April...(Yes I know it's Thursday, we'll get back on schedule eventually, really...)

Did I forget Sunday? I forgot Sunday. Whoops. Okay, it's Sketchy Monday, then. I'm in the middle of the Greenlight Summit, so things are waaaay discombobulated, haha... Oh drat next speaker is on. Here, have a cockscomb flower...

Whatever Wednesday: Central Park Cherry Blossoms

Moving on from magnolias to cherry blossoms... (I should just call these "Floral Wednesdays" at this rate... What d'ya want, it's Spring...) I can't vouch for accuracy in the sketch, I was sketching on a breezy day so the branch I was drawing kept flying out of range. But hey, I had to try. The photos are all from around the Central Park Reservoir (known for amazing cherry trees and annoying joggers...)
