Figure Friday - Costumes!

Figure Friday again! As I try to attend life drawing at least once a week (we'll see how long my schedule lets me do this, ha...) This time it's costume day at the Society of Illustrators. Consisting of one burlesque showgirl and one nattily dressed dude.

(All the boss watercolorists come to the costume days... makes me feel soooo inadequate. I should learn more better watercolor, dammit.)

Whatever Wednesday - Magnolias!

Magnolias! We have them! Everywhere! Or should I say we had them... They're all fading now, but for a while there, they were EVERYWHERE. So cool. So have some magnolia sketches and assorted silly magnolia photos (I have been taking waaay too many magnolia photos...) Be warned, there will be even more magnolias in later posts, because there's just so many magnolias around here now.

Gyaah, okay, so this is getting posted a little late, but hey, it's still Sunday... (This has been a very discombobulated day.) All right, how about a random carp! Carp, koi, whatever you want to call it...

Figure Friday - Society of Illustrators

Life drawing time! Whee! Some miscellaneous figures from one of this week's sketch nights at the Society of Illustrators... Just your basic naked people, what can I say. (Next time I have got to get there earlier... I got stuck in the corner seat right next to the model stand, so a lot of poses were basically "Hey look, it's a giant foot in yo' face!")

Whatever Wednesday - Hopping Pop and Daffodils!

Okay, I know I've posted this elsewhere already, but I want to post it here for those people who don't really follow me elsewhere... (Hi there, Mom and Dad!)

This is a get well card for my Dad on the occasion of him having hip surgery to fix some nasty arthritis he’s had for years. He’s all excited about having fresh new hips that don’t hurt, and from the sound of things I guess he’ll be hopping around in no time… So when I thought of what to draw for a card, this is what sprang to mind.

And by the way, yes, we DO have daffodils here! Lots of them! Proof:

New Blog Schedule! Starting Today with Sketchy Sunday

New plan! So I realize I keep letting this blog slide, what with the usual unpredictable crazy work schedule and crazy side projects and so forth... Not good. Usually what happens is either I don't have time to scan things, or I just plain old forget to update what with everything else going on. However, if I give myself a structured update schedule, I'll have a routine and can (hopefully) keep this thing running smoothly. That, plus a decent backlog of scans... (I think I have enough to be getting on with for now.)

So here's the plan: There will be three updates a week! Updates will most likely be short and sweet. The schedule will be...

• Whatever Wednesday: As it says on the tin, whatever!
• Figure Friday: Figure drawings and related material
• Sketchy Sunday: Rough sketches, on-the-spot action sketches, doodles, etc.

Today is Sketchy Sunday! With Random Park Dogs! (Well, one dog. I think her name was "Mia". She came over and sniffed at my sketchbook briefly.)
